I live and breathe music. So much I wanted to share my passion for music with like-minded people. As co-founder of a music business, I help aspiring artists find their place in the music industry with no restrictions.
Hi, I’m Mylène Besançon. My partner Chris Erhardt and I both run SongCat, a professional affordable online music production service. SongCat gives aspiring and professional musicians easy access to music industry resources. Over the years, I’ve helped co-manage artists with incredible chart success. But my success working alongside such artists didn’t happen out of luck.
My passion for marketing helped me successfully promote and help artists gain well deserved exposure. I simply adore marketing. Online marketing – whether online advertising, social media, email or content marketing – also greatly interests me… as much as working with Google Analytics and PPC management, an ongoing passion and hobby of mine. I’ve furthered my passion in marketing by seeking new skills. In 2015, I received an MBA in marketing from Dublin Business School, in addition to a B.A. in Foreign Language & Business Studies from Université Sud Toulon-Var in 2012.
But more about me. I grew up in Le Lavandou, Southeastern France. I have so many good memories growing up there. My parents have worked hard to allow me to grow up in such a beautiful place and I will be eternally grateful for this. I speak several languages – English, Italian and French, of course. I travel as well. Traveling helps expand my worldview, and learn new things. It’s opened my eyes to so many new possibilities in life. You could say traveling also helped me become better at expressing myself. Besides traveling, I engage in sports. Regular physical activity keeps my mind sharp as the years go on. Thinking, learning, using good judgment… all skills I rely on when I’m at work or on my own time. I do value learning. I enjoy learning every day, so you’ll always find me enrolled in some kind of online class!
All music artists should have support from the beginning to the twilight years of their journey. So I thought, why not support artists who need access to better opportunities? When Chris and I started Songwriter Connect and SongCat, we decided we had to address those concerns. Our previous experience with Songwriter Connect prepared us to take SongCat to even greater heights. Although we sold Songwriter Connect only one year after having founding the platform, we’re both proud of having fostered such a meaningful idea that became an entire company.
SongCat was born out of a desire to nurture artists. Our three year old kitten – who’s still a little kitten to me – inspired our logo and company name: SongCat. With our desire in mind, we set out to create a company where all artists could feel free to express themselves, unrestricted by low funds or no connections, and unlock their full potential.
You can say we’ve worked on unlocking SongCat’s full potential as well. Over the past two years, we’ve focused on helping our customers reach the next level in their musical journey. Songwriters, singers, bands and lyricists across the world use SongCat. We’ve even helped musicians achieve wide-reaching success; their professional music recordings have unlocked the door for them to key contacts.
